Root Canals
The pain associated with toothaches is a dire reminder that teeth aren't just inert pieces of hard tissue floating around. In fact, it is a reminder that teeth are intricately formed parts with hard layers overlaid by delicate cores.
Your awareness changes rapidly in any part of your body when you experience pain. Tooth pain can be particularly alarming, intended to alert you to a problem. An irritated, damaged, or attacked bundle of nerves and vessels inside your tooth signals that you need emergency dental care.
Sometimes, a significant infection may develop without any symptoms in your jaw. A deep cavity can let bacteria into the nerve bundle. A crack that extends into that area can create pain. Dr. Shahrokh may suggest root canal treatment if he determines the nerve will not recover or an infection is present.
With the use of modern anesthetics, a root canal is done to treat the inflamed tooth. The canal inside the tooth is cleaned and disinfected. A Filling material and a sealer is used to seal the internal space. Finally, fillings or crown restores the tooth to its original state.
