Dentures
Dental Bridge Versus Dentures
Dentists use dental bridges to restore spaces with missing teeth. Dental bridges are fixed in place. For a bridge to be attached to your natural teeth, the teeth on either side must be modified to fit the bridge. Dentures, on the other hand, are removable. In order to restore a space using a dental bridge, the size of the space, chewing forces, and the strength of the teeth adjacent to it has to be considered. A removable denture is required if the space is too long. Complete and partial dentures are removable but they can be anchored to the jaw with the help of four or six dental implants. Immediate dentures after full mouth extraction
If a full mouth extraction is needed, it can all be done in one single appointment with proper preparation. If that is the case, it is best to have an immediate denture made and ready for you before the surgical appointment for the extractions. The term "immediate dentures" refers to those that are provided immediately after the extraction of teeth. With an immediate denture, your gums will heal faster, and you won’t be without teeth following the extractions. Immediate, same-day dentures also protect your gums during the healing process.
Implant Supported Dentures
Dental implants can be used to anchor removable dentures to the jaw. Because implant-supported dentures anchor to your jaw, they are much more comfortable to wear. They provide retention and stability that prevent them from falling out of place. Adding implants to removable dentures is worth the time and money because they significantly increase the retention and comfort associated with the use of removable dentures.
Dentures and their Side Effects
Similar to other dental procedures, dentures are made with a high degree of skill and care. Therefore, a high-quality fabricated complete denture should be very comfortable and should have excellent retention.
