Tooth Extractions
Even if you take all possible precautions, you may eventually need your teeth removed for various reasons. We will make every effort to help you when we have discussed all other options and you have decided on dental extraction. All treatment decisions are based on your well-being. Even minor surgical procedures are made as comfortable as possible by our staff.
How Dental Extractions Are Done
The difficulty of removing teeth varies from tooth to tooth, but Dr. Shahrokh and his dental care team are committed to making the process very easy and stress free. We start with numbing every patient using modern anesthetics. Then, after anesthesia settles in, the infected tooth is lifted gently out of its place with instruments designed to minimize discomfort. After your procedure, you will receive specific instructions and prescriptions for any medications needed during recovery.
Our goal is not only to manage your short-term care but also to help you replace missing teeth long-term. A smile makeover, dental implants, all-on-4, dentures, bridges, etc., are some options for replacing missing teeth. Although leaving a space in your smile is always an option, spaces in your smile can pose appearance and functional challenges that we may need to consider. A tooth shift or migration into an open space can cause several complications later in life. Minimizing the instability of an unbalanced bite can also prevent many other future problems.
When necessary, we can guide you through dental extractions, despite our primary goal of keeping your teeth healthy and functional. After removing a tooth, you can restore your mouth to full function.
Please note, we are one of the few San Diego dentist offices open on Saturday.
