Brushing your teeth is the first step of building great oral hygiene, but you can not stop there! With flossing you remove any food stuck in between your teeth. Most importantly, it stops plaque from developing on the gum line and surface of teeth, and clean the places your average toothbrush can’t.

Flossing your teeth regularly is very important for oral hygiene.

Getting rid of the plaque generating in between your teeth is an essential part of avoiding cavities and gum disease. Bacteria grows from food stuck between your teeth. The bacteria then eats through the enamel and causes cavities. To avoid getting food trapped in areas that are hard to reach, we highly recommend to floss after every meal. This will increase your chances of not only avoiding build-up, but also avoiding cavities.

The issue that most people have when it comes to flossing is the fact that it hurts. It is very normal to have discomfort when flossing but it should not be painful. If you have pain or bleeding when flossing this means you are most likely due for a cleaning and should schedule an exam with your dentist as soon as possible. If it is uncomfortable to floss your teeth, you must push through it. It will soon be a habit and you won’t mind anymore.

It is never too late to start flossing your teeth.
